Born in Chile but spending most of his life in Australia , Waldo had long wanted to bring Latin music to the fore in his adopted country. Through working with bands as diverse as The Catholics and Swoop , Waldo gradually built up the musical contacts to fulfil his goal. Over two years in the making, his debut album LOCO was produced, engineered and mixed by Frank Kerestedshjian ( GANGgajang, Nathan Cavallieri, & Skunkhour ). The album showcased a world class combination of Australia 's finest musicians such as Andrew Gander (Roy and HG), Anthony Kable ( Natalie Cole , Tom Jones ), Brendon St Ledger ( Swoop ), Floyd Vincent and many more.

Having released albums in South America and Australia , Waldo Fabian has a unique standing within the local music scene. To the Latin American community in his hometown Sydney , Waldo Fabian is a performer who brings them the rhythms and textures of South American music with his Latin Groove Band.

Produced and arranged by Waldo Fabian (who also plays guitar and bass), LOCO was a celebration of Latin music in the New Millennium, it speaks of love, fun and passion. The album is a true crossover of Latin pop, containing an exotic and exciting mixture of musical styles. With a blend of authentic rhythms that ranges from cha cha cha to merengue and jazz, the use of modern sounds and technology has taken the album into the 21 st century.

The songs for the album were written by Waldo during his travels in Australia , Chile and Miami and were inspired by his love of Latin music and the desire to bring that music to the Australian people.

The first Latin artist to be signed to a major world-wide publisher Warner/Chappell Music; Waldo Fabian's debut album has achieved that and so much more. His latest album, recorded in South America , is currently being mixed & mastered to be released in Australia and overseas this year.

2000 proved to be another very successful year for Waldo who kicked off New Years Eve performing at Sydney 's ever-popular Darling Harbour . From then on Waldo secured three huge nights of fantastic response, headlining at the Bacardi Festival De Cuba as a part of the Festival of Sydney . Waldo was also a finalist in the Australian World Music Awards held in Thredbo for the best album category on the 18 & 19 March 2000.

Film has also become an outlet as Waldo has discovered a definite interest from this industry. Making an appearance on Kate Crogan's latest film "Strange Planet" , Waldo has proved his versatility by also arranging some of the score. The HBO film "Purple Haze"..

Waldo returned from South America recently having signed a distribution deal with LIDA MUSIC . With 2 singles, "Mujeres" & "Imposible Amor" already on all major Latin Radio waves, the album simply titled "Mujeres", is set for release in November through LIDA MUSIC/ SONY CHILE .

However, the key factor about Fabian is his versatility as a musician, producer and writer. His recent material displays a strong dance edge as on his last single "Latin Vibe" and his brand new single "Give Me The Rhythm", both of which merge dance and Latin with a jazzy flava.

"Latin Vibe" which was included on the DMA nominated compilation 'A Higher Sound presents A Night In The Life', was produced by two distinctive talents from two different music cultures; Fabian, a Chilean bass player and DJ Stephen Allkins, an Australian dance music icon. Allkins' [love] tattoo remix of "Latin Vibe" crossed Latin with house for a sound driven by a bouncing fluid bassline and explosive percussion. On "Give Me The Rhythm", Fabian teamed up with the most prolific remix team in the country - Funk Corporation - to produce dance floor mixes that have a stronger tilt towards funk inspired house. The 'Sax Jam' and 'Montuno Vibe' mixes hit the mark respectively with pumping sax lines and classic Latin keyboard and percussion breaks. The Latino club version - the Waldo G. 'Original Mix' - is big, climactic and uplifting, leaving no doubt about its origins.

Besides his forays onto the dance floor, Fabian is also making his mark in a number of other musical circles. Under the name of Waldo G., he recently remixed two tracks for Disco Montego including a new mix of their smash hit single "Beautiful" and he is currently recording tracks for his new 'Urbanism' project which combines Urban/R&B/Latin and features guest vocalists. The 'Urbanism' album is due to be completed in the first half of 2003.

Fabian has written and produced two Latin solo albums; 'Dejame Tocarte', a South American release through Sony imprint Leader, and 'Loco', which was released locally by FMG. Recently, Fabian had the No.1 single on Chile 's No.1 station Radio Corazon with the title track from 'Dejame Tocarte' and currently holds the No.1 spot with "Muerdeme La Lengua". His songs are also gaining greater exposure in South America through a brace of top selling compilations there. Fabian is no stranger to the Latin American charts with production and writing credits on two hit singles for rising Latino singer Rachel and he can also claim to being one of the first contemporary Latin writer/producers to sign with the giant Warner Chappell music publishers.

Fabian has also written and produced music for a number of artists locally including Robyn Loau and Delta. His new jazz project '2 Deep' is soon to be launched as a live venture.

Garrido's appetite for creating and performing music is never ending, from live appearances at Latin music festivals and the Big Day Out to writing and producing in the studio, his passion is indicative of his Latino background.

Waldo's Band is indeed a celebration of Latin music today - it's fun, sexy, fiery and full of passion. It makes you want to laugh, to dance, to sing and maybe on a hot summer evening, even go a little crazy - Loco that is!
